Anise
seeds come from a plant native to southern Europe
and northern Africa. Anise is a spice with
a sweet licorice flavor. Powdered seed & oil
of anise are used in baking cookies, pastries, rye
bread and cakes.
Used whole, anise seeds add a distinctive
flavor to sausage, spaghetti and pizza sauces, stews,
vegetable dishes, and in pickling. Anise is also
good with fish and shellfish, and vegetable dishes.
